How much does your company size affect your working outcome? Can you imagine yourself in a different company size than the one your at now?
We might forget that one of the important factors that influence a company culture is its employee number. A large company generally has more than 1,000 employees, with major corporations often employing tens of thousands of people globally. A small company such as a start up can be below 50 employees. Anything between this numbers are considered medium size.
Having experienced both cultures and environments, I can confidently say that company size is something you'll pay attention to in your next job search. When choosing between working at a big company or a small company, many factors come into play, including salary, job responsibilities, career growth, and work culture. Understanding the differences can help you make the right decision for your career goals and work style.

Salary & Benefits
Salaries are more standardized, in big companies they typically offer an average amount, with benefit packages (healthcare, retirement plans, stock options, and bonuses). However, small companies, salaries may be higher, especially in start-ups, but benefits can also be limited due to fewer resources.
Job Roles & Responsibilities
When increasing the number of employees. the roles and responsibilities become more focused on specific tasks. This structure ensures efficiency but may limit exposure to other business areas. On the other hand, in smaller sized companies, employees often wear multiple hats, working across different areas like marketing, sales, and operations. This provides broader experience but can be overwhelming.
Career Growth & Promotions
Career paths, leadership training programs, and mentorship opportunities are well defined in bigger company size corporates, and if you end up in a well-structured one, you will slowly grow to higher positions and salary grades. However, promotions can be slow due to competition and corporate hierarchy. In smaller sized ones, you get faster career progression since there are fewer employees, but growth depends on the company’s success and may lack formal promotion structures.
Work Environment & Culture
Typically in larger company size you have a formal corporate structure, with established policies, office politics, and slower decision-making.
